WEDDING DAY TIPS

Here are just a few tips we like to pass along to make your pictures even better, and our job easier. These are meant to be light hearted and all are based on experience.

AVOID DISPOSABLES AND CLUTTER

For example: if you carry items into the bridal area in plastic bags, try to unpack everything and get rid of the bags ASAP. Same thing applies for makeup. I'm sure you won't want to see a handful of dirty cotton balls sitting around, so keep a trash can nearby.

TRY TO NARROW DOWN YOUR FORMAL SHOTS

We understand everyone wants a picture with the bride and groom right after the ceremony, but let’s save that time for immediate family and the romantic couple shots.

LEAVE PLENTY OF TIME AFTER THE CEREMONY

We don’t want to miss any shots only because we are running late to the reception. We ask for at least 1.5 to 2 hours, but no less than an hour for adequate photos.

IF YOU HAVE AN ITINERARY, PLEASE MAKE US A COPY

We will go over your wedding day schedule during our final meet up, but if you have a physical form it will ensure that we know exactly when everything is and helps us to not miss any shots. Be as detailed as possible, include the cake cutting, limo arrival, speeches, etc.

PREPARE FOR BAD WEATHER

They say it’s good luck right?

Don’t fixate on it, but it’s definitely something necessary to consider. In the event of rain or worse, we do carry props and our cameras are weatherproof so we can do some pretty cool shots! Otherwise, we will be inside and still be able to capture all the necessary photos for your wedding day.

BEST TIME FOR PHOTOS IS AN HOUR BEFORE SUNSET

Try to be conscious of when sunset is on your wedding day. We like to pull the bride and groom out of the reception for a couple shots while lighting is the best. This also leaves more flexibility to not be rushed during photos directly after the ceremony.

DON’T CHEW GUM

I can’t even begin to count how many times a photo has been ruined because we catch a bride or groom mid-chomp. Stick to mints or Listerine strips!

MAKE SURE YOUR BRIDAL PARTY KNOWS WHAT THEY’RE DOING

The number of guys that don’t know how to tie a tie is surprising. You don’t want a messy looking knot in all your pictures. Same thing for pocket squares, bustling the dress, veils, proper button procedure for suit jackets, etc.

THE KISS!

Make sure you hold the kiss for a while, at least 4 seconds. We have missed the kiss shot before because couples just give a peck. Don’t be embarrassed, people are here to see you two get married! What else do they expect?

KNOW WHAT YOU’RE LOOKING AT

During the ceremony, look at your partner, don’t stare at the officiant. During reception speeches, look at who’s talking, don’t stare at your food no matter how good it looks. Just always be thinking what would make sense in a photo.

ENJOY YOUR FIRST DANCE

Just enjoy each other. Don’t worry about anything else. Some couples talk and it makes them look very uncomfortable in photos.

SMILE AND HAVE FUN!

This is your big day and a day you will remember for the rest of your life, so enjoy it!If you are having a good time, it will show in your pictures and we can promise you will enjoy seeing your photos even more. It’s also smart to prep your wedding party to practice smiling. This especially applies when walking down the isle. We don’t want the bridal party walking down the isle looking annoyed or upset.
