Hi, I’m James Salus!

I have ran and operated Salus Media since 2014. I thrive on the love that is shown through all the couples that I work with. I’m 32 years old. You can find me at the beach during the summers, and a great coffee shop during the winters. I have a passion for photography, so you can find some form of a camera in my hands at almost all times. I am an avid Cleveland Browns & Pittsburgh Penguins fan. If you ask me to pick a movie, I’ll choose Harry Potter, Star Wars or some raunchy early 2000s comedy. If you’re thinking of getting me a gift, get me a beer that you think I’ve never heard of, I love different kinds of beer and I enjoy trying new things. That is….unless its some form of seafood.

I married my best friend in 2022 surrounded by our closest friends and family in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. In March of 2023 we introduced our first daughter into the world! We currently live in Youngstown Ohio. We are big foodies who love to travel and we definitely aren’t shy to show our nerdy side, especially when it comes to board games.

In 2013, I was working on the creative team at a church when I was asked by to take pictures of services that Sunday. I had never used a camera but always up for a challenge, I accepted. That was my first time using a DSLR camera. After doing it for a couple months, a friend of mine approached me just a couple weeks before his wedding and said his photographer had backed out last minute and he needed a photographer. I stepped up and in May of 2014 shot my first wedding. I posted those photos and as they gained traction, I soon was booked for 3 more weddings that same year and 9 the next year. ‘Salus Media’ came along in 2016 when the need for video arose. Until then, I was operating under the name James Salus Photography. Once I began shooting video, I was able to build a team to be with me at weddings and now I have about 8 amazingly creative people that are on my team. As of now, I average about 45 weddings a year.
